HOW IT HAPPENED
On Thanksgiving Day, 2005, Jamison and MIchelle were in Dakota City at her parents' house for the holiday. After months of insanely, detail-orientated planning, Jamison pulled the wool over her eyes with quite some flair! After eating Thanksgiving Dinner next door at Michelle's aunt and uncle's house, Michelle received a letter from her father. It was hand written on nice stationary, even sealed with a wax heart stamp. Michelle opened it, and after lots of lovely things being said, was informed that she needed to go to the first place that they kissed. Since that was next door, in the driveway of her parents' house, it was quite easy. (Michelle's parents had no idea that they had made out in their driveway!=).
A second letter was found near the driveway which instructed Michelle to go to the first place that Michelle told Jamison that she loved him. Oopss...this was in high school and Michelle's memory quickly fades. Also, since it was in Sioux City, she was of the opinion that maybe Jamison thought it was somewhere else since he had not been to the location for years and surely did not know where it is. After some phone calls, seeing that her car had been stolen, and realizing that Diane was in on the ordeal, Michelle drove to the Anderson Pavillion in Sioux City.
At the park, near the waterfront, Michelle disovered a trail of luminaries and another letter. The third letter instructed Michelle to follow the trail to the waterfront where she would find her treasure. Jamison was at the end of the trail, shivering in the cold. He got down on one knee and proposed right after sunset and surrounded by candles. It was beautiful (says Michelle) and cold (says Jamison). Michelle said "Of course!!!" and then slugged him after realizing that he had been tricking her for months now. Then, she looked once again at the kick-ass, hand-designed rock on her hand and realized that it was worth it!
